Tummy Tuck Combined with Butt Lift

A body lift is a procedure that removes loose skin and tissue from the lower body. The procedure is beneficial for people who have lost a large amount of weight. By removing the apron of loose skin that covers the lower body, Dr. Proffitt can improve your appearance and put the finishing touch on your weight loss.

Who’s the Right Candidate for a Body Lift?

Those who seek body lift surgery often need skin removed from areas such as the abdomen, back, hips, thighs and buttocks. To be considered a candidate, you should be:

  • At a stable body weight
  • In generally good health
  • Motivated to improve your body shape

The right patient for body lift surgery is typically one who has experienced major weight loss. As more people achieve their weight loss goals through bariatric surgery or focused diet and exercise routines, this procedure will surely remain popular. If you think a body lift may be right for you, a consultation is the next step.

Your Body Lift Consultation in Mobile

If you’re considering body lift surgery, it’s best to meet with a board-certified Alabama plastic surgeon to discuss your options. When you visit our practice, Dr. Proffitt can discuss body lift surgery and its benefits, risks, goals, and expected results. You will have the opportunity to review body lift photos and other body contouring pictures taken at our office.

How Body Lift Surgery Works

A body lift is basically a tummy tuck combined with a buttock lift. Working in a circumferential manner around the lower body, Dr. Proffitt removes hanging skin and tissue. Surgical incisions are aligned with the natural folds of the skin, allowing scars to be concealed as well as possible.

Extra skin is trimmed away with a technique called excision. This may be combined with liposuction to remove excess fat. The result of the body lift is tighter, smoother skin on the tummy, buttocks, and surrounding areas.

After the Body Lift

A body lift is a relatively extensive plastic surgery procedure, so it is best to be prepared for downtime. Dr. Proffitt will help you prepare for recovery by providing instructions in advance of your surgery. Prescription medications are used to help manage postoperative pain. Antibiotics are also used, along with special compression garments, to promote skin contraction.

Surgical drains will be placed for about a week after your body lift. Aerobic exercise or strenuous activities will need to be postponed for about six weeks.
