Non-Surgical Procedures

Alternatives to Cosmetic Surgery in Mobile

Dr. Proffitt specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery, but also offers a wide array of non-surgical treatments. Designed to provide satisfying results in a shorter amount of time than a surgery, non-surgical treatments can focus on many skin imperfections and age-related cosmetic concerns.

Injectables for Wrinkle Reduction

Injectable treatments like Botox or fillers like Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane greatly diminish lines and wrinkles on the face for a smoother appearance.

In the case of Botox, fine lines can develop on areas of the face like between the brows or in the form of crow's feet by the eyes. The Botox solution is comprised of a form of the botulinum toxin, which works to inhibit muscle movement.

Botox also has several widely recognized therapeutic uses including controlling excessive sweating and providing relief from headaches.

Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane also work on wrinkles and depressions in the face, but in a different way. Rather than limiting the movement of the muscle, these injectable fillers are injected into lines on the face. There, they provide youthful volume and add to a more smooth appearance.

Additionally, these injectables can be used for other facial contouring procedures and are often a part of lip augmentation, giving fullness to thin lips.

Juvederm and Restylane are both comprised of hyaluronic acid, similar to the same component present in your skin. This hyaluronic acid provides necessary hydration to your skin, supporting a more youthful volume and structure.

Radiesse is made up of calcium microspheres. Like the components in other fillers, these microspheres support a more youthful looking face with decreased lines and wrinkles. Fillers like Radiesse are often thought of as a sort of scaffolding for the skin.

Treatments to Diminish Common Skin Issues

Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermabrasion and laser skin resurfacing treatments also work to reduce signs of aging. By removing dead, dull outer layers of skin, a more smooth and vibrant looking face is possible. Additionally, they can correct common skin ailments such as:

  • some scarring
  • age spots
  • uneven skin tone and texture
  • blemishes
  • hyperpigmentation

Chemical peels are a solution that is applied to the face in Dr. Proffitt's Mobile plastic surgery practice. It works over a short period of time to remove the dead skin cells.

Microdermabrasion, dermabrasion and laser skin resurfacing all incorporate tools and techniques that slough off these skin cells more directly.

Any of these treatments can be applied to correct skin issues on the face, neck and chest. Some patients may also undergo treatments for the hands, often to remove signs of aging like age spots.

Latisse for Fuller Eyelashes

Dr. Proffitt also offers treatment for thin or inadequate lashes called Latisse. This at-home application is administered once nightly by the patient and over a period of several weeks, results in longer, fuller and more beautiful lashes. Patients who used Latisse as directed reported a 78% increase in the prominence of their eyelashes, on average.

Veins Treatment

Those who struggle with visible spider or varicose veins on the legs may undergo sclerotherapy. This injection based treatment causes veins to collapse and disappear from view. While sclerotherapy does not guarantee that new veins cannot appear elsewhere, any veins treated with sclerotherapy should no longer be visible.
